About My Practice

I have been practicing as a mental health counselor for over a decade. Prior to practicing in Boise, I worked in St. Louis, Missouri for two years in the field of Social Work after graduating with a Master of Social Work degree from Washington University in 2001. Throughout my career I have worked with numerous populations in a variety of settings. I primarily focus my counseling practice on adults (18 and up) who are experiencing symptoms of life/work/relationship stress, anxiety, depression, grief, and Trauma (or other stressor-related disorders). I have experience working with teens (13 and up) and will consider individuals of this age range on a case-by-case basis.

The treatment modality that informs my practice is EMDR Therapy.  I have been a Certified EMDR Therapist since April of 2015, and received my basic training in EMDR Therapy in April of 2013.  While my style is influenced primarily by the EMDR model, it is also shaped by other theories including, but not limited to:  Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Internal Family Systems Theory, Attachment Theory, Polyvagal Theory, and Mindfulness.

The following are my areas of focus; if your needs fall outside of my scope of practice, I am happy to provide referrals to therapists who can better meet your needs.
